Lincoln MKZ Activation

    • Lincoln MKZ Activation from Incredible Machines on Vimeo.

    Overview

Commissioned by the Lincoln Motor Company to celebrate the launch of the all-new MKZ and new corporate identity, this project utilized 11 high-power projectors to turn the surface and surroundings of the car, two performers, and the iconic facade of Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center into an artistic experience.

    Production

We designed the visual elements of this story using a combination of Cinema 4D, After Effects, and Illustrator. We rendered graphics onto a 3D model of the MKZ and a wide-screen surface surrounding the vehicle. The graphics were projected onto the automobile and stage using a combination of Resolume and our own custom mapping software. We brought a D3 system on-site to map the large-scale animations onto the face of Avery Fisher hall, and used Mad Mapper to map imagery onto our actors’ bodies. We used a custom Open Sound Control (OSC) application to seamlessly coordinate different machines located around the massive urban plaza, and sync the show perfectly with the original score.
