    SimpleTones

SimpleTones is an interactive sound installation that enables novices to engage in collaborative musical experiences. Using computer vision techniques and custom-made hand-held controllers, participants can generate sound and improvise with ease using simple gestures. Inspired by the ritual of the May Pole, participants operate controllers connected to a pole with wheels that can be collaboratively moved around the space as a tandem to explore hidden rhythms in specific locations.

The software was built using openFrameworks and sound produced in Ableton Live. Both programs communicate using OSC.

SimpleTones has been exhibited at the MFA Design&Technology Thesis Show at Parsons The new School For Design in New York and at NIME 2012 (New interfaces for Musical Expression) in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
