Overview

For two consecutive years, Venture For America commissioned custom motion graphics for their event at the IAC building, a venue which has one of the largest permanent video walls in the world. Its 120-foot-long, 11-foot tall array of screens is an impressive canvas for calling out VFA’s many accomplishments and welcoming the class of incoming fellows. Our animations of live Tweets, stories from the fellows, photographs, and elements of the organization’s mission statement turned the wall of screens into an ever-changing backdrop to the event that showcased the attendees and the organization in a dynamic way. We designed an elegant, geometric style that enhanced the content while at the same time created stunning large scale effects.

Designing for an enormous 14,200-pixel-wide screen was an interesting challenge. We paired After Effects’ native scripting language with Watch Out video control software to animate all of the screens simultaneously. Our custom backend portal managed Tweets and images from party guests and fed them into the installation, keeping the content fresh and interactive throughout the evening.
