PORCUPINE

    • Physical computing Porcupine from Francisco Zamorano on Vimeo.

    Overview

Porcupine is an interactive object that reacts to proximity. It presents itself as a joke about interactive art objects where you are supposed to touch them. But what if the object does not want to be touched? Wanting to give some personality to an inanimate object, Porcupine is a grumpy kind: every time you get too close it reacts taking out its sharp spines to scare you away.

Porcupine is built using an IR Distance Sensor, a servomotor, some plastic straws and recycled materials like a McDonalds plastic cup and rubber bands for the Spines mechanism.
